Vice President Bawumia announces government support for digital youth village project: Ghana News

Vice President has affirmed the government's commitment to the establishment of a Digital Youth Village, designed to foster digital among Ghanaian youth.

The village, situated on a five-acre land at the , will serve as a hub for learning, innovation, and creativity, equipped with cutting-edge information and technologies.

During the opening of the 75th Annual School and Conference at the , Vice President Bawumia disclosed the government's financial backing for the project, with the first phase set to conclude by the end of the year.

“In this era of the fourth industrial revolution, digital technology is an enabler to enhance productivity and revenue mobilization for sustainable development,” remarked Vice President Bawumia.

He highlighted various digital initiatives implemented by the -led government, such as the Ghana.gov portal, interoperability, and paperless ports, emphasizing their positive impact on financial inclusion and service delivery.

The Vice President underscored the importance of technology as a catalyst for growth, citing the role of data analytics in informed decision-making and sustainable development.

He praised the University of Ghana's initiatives in innovation and technology, including the one-student-one-laptop program and the modernization of classrooms.

“I have followed keenly the one-student-one-laptop initiatives, classroom modernization, and construction of hotspot comfort zones on campus to provide ideal locations for student relaxation. These initiatives are commendable,” Vice President Bawumia commended.

He urged the university to continue leading in knowledge production and developing groundbreaking technologies tailored to address specific challenges.

Emphasizing the synergy of technology and humanism, he stated, “When humanism is harmoniously combined with the potential of cutting-edge technology, a well-balanced approach is formed.”

Vice President Bawumia concluded by highlighting the significance of embracing humanism for the shared commitment to future generations and the establishment of a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future.
