President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to organize the National Education Forum, fulfilling his commitment to enhancing Ghana’s education sector. The committee, chaired by Professor George K. T. Oduro, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, has been given two weeks to submit its report and plan. Other members include Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Dr. Samuel Awuku, Professor Smile Dzisi, Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.

The committee’s responsibilities include developing a theme and sub-themes for the forum, identifying key stakeholders such as students, parents, teachers, researchers, civil society organizations, development partners, religious bodies, political parties, Ghanaian educational researchers in the diaspora, chiefs, heads of educational institutions, and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education. They are also tasked with proposing a venue and date for the forum, setting up a secretariat to document activities, preparing a budget, and compiling a comprehensive report detailing the forum’s findings and recommendations. Additionally, the committee will draft a national education policy framework and propose an action plan for implementing recommendations within three weeks after the forum.
