NPP parliamentary aspirant defies expulsion, successfully files nomination: Ghana News
Mr Alois Kog Kyaakpier Mohl, NPP PC aspirant in Nandom Constituency

Mr. Alois Kog Kyaakpier Mohl, a parliamentary candidate (PC) aspirant of the New Patriotic Party () in the Nandom Constituency, has filed his nomination to contest in the parliamentary primaries, despite his reported expulsion from the party.

Mr. Mohl filed the nomination on Friday at the party's Headquarters in , where he submitted the required documents to the National Treasurer, Dr. Charles Dwamena. The nomination process involved substantial fees, totaling GH¢78,000.00.

This move follows a letter from Mr. Wuoyang Martin, the Nandom Constituency Secretary of the NPP, announcing Mr. Mohl's forfeiture of party membership. The letter, dated December 14, 2023, alleged that Mr. Mohl campaigned against the NPP parliamentary candidate in the 2012, 2016, and 2020 general elections, violating the party constitution.

In response, Mr. Mohl expressed his commitment to the party's interests, unity, and growth, dismissing the expulsion as unjust. He highlighted the lack of evidence and a fair hearing in the allegations against him, pointing out that party membership forfeiture should be announced at the Headquarters based on evidence-based reports and recommendations.

Mr. Mohl, a seasoned Social Development Consultant, emphasized his extensive service to the NPP at various levels, including the national disciplinary committee. He stated, “The letter written by my constituency secretary was not only in bad faith but was inviting me to go down the same lane with him or the constituency executives to cause disaffection in the party, and I am not ready to go that lane.”

Citing provisions of the party constitution, Mr. Mohl argued that the constituency executives failed to satisfy the criteria for expulsion, including providing evidence as mandated by Article 3 (9) of the party constitution.

Despite being a former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Social Investment Fund with over three decades of public service experience, Mr. Mohl faces controversy within the NPP, challenging the party's decision to expel him as he presses forward with his candidacy in the parliamentary primaries.
