Speaking at the presentation, President Mahama commended health workers for their dedication and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving their conditions of service.
He said the Free Primary Healthcare initiative is intended to provide free services at CHPS compounds, health centres, and polyclinics for millions of Ghanaians who are not covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Minister for Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said more than 24,000 medical items have been procured for distribution across the country.
He noted that the programme complements the NHIS by prioritising preventive healthcare through community outreach, home visits, and early disease screening.
The government said the initiative is expected to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and improve access to essential health services nationwide.
