“Government is determined to restore the legacy of Volta Star through strategic partnerships, investment mobilisation and modernisation of the factories,” he said.
President Mahama disclosed that the government has already appointed a transaction advisor, invited applications from potential investors and selected a strategic investor to partner in the revival of the company.
“We appointed a transaction advisor, advertised for strategic investors, received applications, and have connected with one strategic investor to partner us,” he said.
He explained that the revival of Volta Star Textile forms part of the broader 24-hour economy programme, which aims to boost productivity by improving infrastructure, strengthening logistics, expanding market access and attracting investment.
The President said the project also aligns with the proposed Volta Economic Corridor, an initiative designed to integrate agriculture, manufacturing, aquaculture, logistics, renewable energy, tourism and export-led industrialisation into a single economic ecosystem.
According to him, restoring Volta Star Textile will help revive industrial activity, create jobs and strengthen the economic base of the Volta Region.
He added that Juapong’s strategic location and industrial heritage make it a vital component of the government’s vision to transform the Volta Region into a major economic growth hub.
