The investigation follows allegations by the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, who claimed some police officers owned unauthorized structures in the area that were being used for prostitution and the sale of illegal drugs.
The claims emerged after the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) demolished illegal structures behind the COCOBOD building at Asafo on July 8 as part of efforts to clear waterways ahead of the rainy season.
The KMA said the exercise was intended to remove unauthorized settlements obstructing drainage channels, but alleged that some of the structures had become centres for criminal activities.
The police say the investigation will determine the extent of the officer’s involvement and any disciplinary action that may be required.
