Morocco‘s historic FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end after a 2-0 defeat to France in the quarter-finals on Thursday, bringing Africa‘s participation at the tournament to a close.
The Atlas Lions, the last African team remaining in the competition, produced another determined display but were unable to stop a clinical French side from securing a place in the semi-finals.

Morocco had captured global attention with their remarkable run, becoming Africa’s sole representative in the last eight after advancing through the knockout rounds.
Their elimination also ends Africa’s hopes of having a representative in the final stages of the tournament.
France will now continue their quest for the FIFA World Cup title, while Morocco exit the competition after one of the most memorable campaigns by an African nation at the tournament.
