The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has called on Members of Parliament (MPs) to take an active part in the National General Cleaning Days scheduled for July 10 and 11, 2026, in flood-affected regions.
Addressing Parliament, the Speaker said the House fully supports the initiative announced by President John Dramani Mahama following the recent floods.

He urged MPs to lead clean-up activities in their constituencies and mobilise local authorities, community groups and residents to participate in the exercise.
Hon. Bagbin also disclosed that Parliament’s leadership would consider arrangements to enable MPs from the affected regions to return to their constituencies to lead the cleanup.
He stressed that Parliament remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote environmental sanitation, protect lives and strengthen the country’s resilience against future disasters.
