During the tour, Council members received briefings on the operations of both facilities, inspected vocational training centres and ongoing development projects, and held separate interaction sessions with officers and inmates.
Key concerns raised included accommodation challenges, inadequate rehabilitation facilities, healthcare needs, delays in court processes, power outages and infrastructural deficiencies.
The Council commended officers for their professionalism and assured stakeholders that the issues raised would be carefully considered as part of efforts to improve prison administration and inmate welfare.
