Prison officers honoured at Heroes of the Region Conference in Eastern Region

Officers of the Ghana Prisons Service were among several personalities honoured at the Heroes of the Region Conference held in the Eastern Region for their service, dedication and contribution to national development.

At the event, DDP Patrick Thomas Seidu delivered a presentation on the “Think Prison 360°” initiative, highlighting reforms and rehabilitation programmes within the service. He addressed issues including overcrowding, officers’ welfare, mechanised agriculture, industrialisation, inmate education, entrepreneurship training and psychosocial rehabilitation aimed at transforming inmates into productive members of society.

A key highlight of the programme was the presentation of awards to individuals across various sectors. DDP Patrick Thomas Seidu was named Most Innovative Commander of the Year.

DDP Victoria Adzewodah received the Female Prisons Officer of the Year award, while ADP Diabor Adam Mahama was awarded Male Prisons Officer of the Year. ADP Beatrice Aseidu was also honoured as Female Prisons Officer of the Year, CSP Nii Jonathan received the Male Prisons Officer of the Year award, and DSP Frederick Nsanyani was recognised as Administrator of the Year.

The Chief Executive Officer of Windows Connect Africa, Prince Berchie Antwi, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting widows and vulnerable persons while recognising individuals contributing to national development.

The event concluded with a call for professionalism, dedication and continued service to humanity, with organisers emphasising the importance of recognising excellence and honouring contributions to national growth.
