Ghana's Controller and Accountant-General, Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, has officially declared his bid to enter under the banner of the New Patriotic Party ().

The announcement was made during a rally in Swedru, where he led over 2,000 party supporters on a three-hour health walk through the principal streets.

The rally, held on October 30, garnered significant support as participants drummed up enthusiasm for Kwaning-Bosompem's parliamentary aspirations.

The Controller and Accountant-General urged his supporters to remain focused on promoting his candidature, emphasizing the importance of a positive campaign without attacking fellow aspirants.

As the nomination period approaches in December, leading to primaries scheduled for February 2024, Kwaning-Bosompem outlined his plans for the area and encouraged his supporters to maintain a constructive approach.

During the event, he also addressed the upcoming November 4 presidential flagbearer race within the . Kwaning-Bosompem urged party members to conduct themselves with decorum, recognizing that the election of the presidential candidate marked the beginning of the party's determination to break the eight-year electoral cycle in the 2024 elections.

Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem

Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem boasts an impressive career of 34 years in Ghana's Public Service, holding senior management and leadership positions in various governmental institutions, agencies, local authorities, and private organizations.

His experience includes roles at the , (CAGD), Ghana Cement Works, Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), and the Driver and Vehicle License Authority.

A Chartered Management Accountant with 29 years of post-qualification experience, Kwaning-Bosompem holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the Paris Graduate School of Management.

He is also a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, with expertise in Public Sector Reforms and Institutional restructuring.

Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in implementing policies for expenditure rationalization and efficiency, coordinating strategies to enhance revenue mobilization, and contributing to the development of Ghana's National Policy on Public-Private-Partnership (PPP).

His achievements also include facilitating the implementation of the Programme Based Budgeting System in the .

Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem's commitment to integrity and excellence has earned him several accolades, including the Governance and Civil Leadership Awards of the Year in 2019 and induction into the Ghana Leadership Hall of Fame.

He currently serves on the Ghana Road Fund board, Energy Commission, and is a Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana.
