Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah Qualifies for World Athletics High Jump Final

Ghanaian high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah has secured a spot in the finals of the women’s high jump at the ongoing 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

The two-time African Games gold medalist sealed her qualification with a remarkable 1.92-metre clearance, joining the world’s elite jumpers in the final. Her achievement makes her the first Ghanaian athlete in 20 years to reach an individual final at the Championships, after Ignatius Gaisah and Margaret Simpson in 2005.

Yeboah’s qualification is especially significant after her early exit at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. As Ghana’s national record holder, she now has her eyes set on the medal podium, with the final scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.

To claim a medal, Yeboah may need to at least match or surpass her 1.97m national record. Regardless of the outcome, her journey is already a story of resilience, determination, and unyielding belief, serving as an inspiration and a proud moment for Ghana.
