Wontumi TV has issued a formal and unreserved apology to President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the general public following recent remarks made by one of its on-air presenters alleging that the president was involved in the recent tragic military helicopter crash.

In a statement, the station’s management clarified that the comments by Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare on Saturday, 9th August 2025, did not in any way represent the views, position, or policy of Wontumi TV. The station acknowledged that the statement was inappropriate, unfounded, and contrary to its values of professionalism, accuracy, and fairness in broadcasting. It stressed that the remarks were made without evidence and do not reflect its editorial stance.

The management expressed deep regret over the distress and reputational harm caused to President Mahama, the NDC, and the affected families. It assured the public that immediate steps are being taken to address the matter, including disciplinary action against the presenter and reinforcement of editorial guidelines to ensure that all on-air personalities speak only to verified facts and credible records.

Wontumi TV reaffirmed its commitment to the highest standards of journalism and ethical broadcasting, pledging to provide accurate, balanced, and respectful content at all times. The station extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident and called for unity and sensitivity in national discussions during this period of grief.
