President Mahama: the state of the nation is strong, resilient and renewing

President John Dramani Mahama has described the state of Ghana as “strong, resilient and renewing,” stressing that the country is making steady progress despite ongoing challenges.

Delivering his 2026 State of the Nation Address before Parliament of Ghana in Accra, the President acknowledged the economic pressures faced by citizens but maintained that the nation remains on a path of recovery and reform.

He noted that government policies aimed at stabilising the economy, protecting vulnerable households and stimulating growth are beginning to show results. According to him, Ghana’s resilience has been evident in its ability to navigate fiscal constraints, implement structural reforms and sustain essential public services.

President Mahama also highlighted ongoing efforts in infrastructure development, energy sector improvements, job creation initiatives and measures to combat illegal mining. He said these actions form part of a broader strategy to reposition the country for sustainable development.

The President called for unity and collective responsibility, urging political leaders, the private sector and citizens to support policies designed to secure long-term national progress. He emphasised that rebuilding confidence in public institutions and strengthening governance systems remain key priorities.

Concluding his address, President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusive growth, expressing confidence that Ghana will continue to renew itself and advance toward greater prosperity.
