Ghana Gas CEO champions transformational leadership at Women in Government and Media Forum

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company, Judith Adjobah Blay, has called on women in leadership to move beyond symbolic representation and focus on transformational impact.

Speaking at the First Annual National Forum on Women in Government and Media under the theme “Leadership, Visibility and Public Trust,” Ms. Blay reflected on her journey as the first female CEO of Ghana Gas in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

She expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting her with the leadership of the strategic national institution despite her non-technical background.

Highlighting her tenure, she pointed to the successful completion of the company’s 2025 plant maintenance shutdown, which was executed in 10 days ,four days ahead of the 14-day timeline presented to the Minister of Energy.

The early completion resulted in significant cost savings and demonstrated what she described as the value of hands-on, accountable leadership.

She urged women to “not just occupy space, but transform it,” stressing that leadership requires courage, responsibility, and measurable impact rather than titles alone.

Addressing the role of the media, Ms. Blay reaffirmed Ghana Gas’ commitment to promoting professionalism within the sector through periodic media training, sponsorship initiatives, annual media engagements, and academic scholarship schemes.

In her remarks, Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang encouraged women to remain intentional about mentoring the next generation. She emphasized that leadership often begins with listening, offering support, and creating pathways for others to succeed.

The forum brought together stakeholders from government and media to examine how inclusive leadership and responsible reporting can strengthen public trust and national development.
