Foreign Affairs Minister-nominee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa at Parliament;s Appointment Commitee vetting - January 31, 2025

Foreign Affairs Minister-nominee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has assured that if confirmed, he will ensure the government remains committed to assisting 156 Ghanaians facing imminent deportation from the United States. The development follows U.S. President Donald Trump‘s recent executive order challenging birthright citizenship.

Ablakwa made the revelation during his appearance before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday. The executive order aims to end the practice of automatically granting citizenship to individuals born on U.S. soil, known as birthright citizenship.
