Like many well-meaning Ghanaians, I have followed your media engagements and observed how, at the least opportunity, you castigate and take swipes at the Health Minister.
You may not have been born a leader, but leadership skills can be acquired, especially when handling a professional association at the national level.
Take, for instance, past General Secretaries of the GMA such as Dr. Frank Serebour, Dr. Justice Yankson, and Prof. Titus Beyuo, just to mention a few.
These men were confronted with some of the biggest challenges in their leadership, yet whenever they engaged the media, they displayed intellectualism and maturity.
Not once did they openly castigate or attack their sector minister. If for nothing else, this is the same sector minister whose audience you will need in order to advance the agenda of your members, and this is just common sense.
You hold a PhD, and as far as I know, PhD training focuses not only on academics but also on leadership and community engagement, preparing one to be a competent and effective all-around scholar.
However, it appears you are deficient in leadership and community engagement. Your leadership style comes across as anaemic, uninspiring, and unrefined.
You must learn to communicate like the leader of a professional body. Perhaps this is one reason why you struggle to engage your superiors, because your approach often lacks respect, especially in your media engagements.
I am sure you have read the press release by the GMA regarding the incident at Ridge Hospital. That is how a professional body addresses issues in the media.
Bear in mind that you are just the General Secretary of GRNMA, and not the president of all intellectuals in Ghana.
So tone down, address issues with respect and maturity, and stop speaking like a misguided political animal.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Fred Edzeamey, PhD.
