NDC condemns incumbent MP's defiant stance on potential election loss: Ghana News

The National Democratic Congress () in has strongly condemned remarks made by the incumbent Member of (MP), Mavis , suggesting she would only accept defeat in the 2024 general elections “when she is dead.”

The sees this as a threat to the democratic process and insists that every candidate must be willing to accept the outcome of the elections.

The NDC leadership in the constituency, expressing their concern, stated that such comments undermine the principles of democracy.

They emphasized that Mavis should be prepared to accept defeat graciously if the electorate chooses the NDC's Okunnor.

In light of the previous election's incidents involving gunshots at certain centers, the NDC leadership vowed to take measures to prevent a recurrence of such events in the upcoming elections.

“The actions and inaction of the clergy, and religious bodies within are contributing more to the menace caused by Hawa,” the NDC remarked, questioning the silence of religious bodies in the constituency. They called on religious leaders to condemn such statements and play a role in promoting a peaceful electoral process.

“The same church and mosque that Hawa and her people will walk into for prayers, prayers to win an election and come and beat us.

And our men of God, our clergymen, our Imams are quiet. How many of us should die before you know that this woman is killing the youth?” the NDC questioned.

The NDC's strong stance reflects their commitment to ensuring a fair and peaceful electoral process in Awutu Senya East.
