Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem Sai has confirmed that Ghana’s Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, has filed a new case against the Republic of Ghana at the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice in Abuja, Nigeria. The suit, filed on July 4, 2025, comes amid ongoing legal proceedings in Ghana’s own courts relating to her suspension and removal process.
According to the Deputy Attorney General, the Chief Justice has repeated before the ECOWAS Court the same allegations of human rights violations that are currently pending before Ghana’s Supreme Court and High Court.
