The Government of Ghana is advising citizens to exercise extreme caution in their travel plans and avoid non-essential travel to South Africa until further notice.
Ghanaian nationals currently in South Africa have been urged to maintain regular contact with the Ghana High Commission for consular assistance.
The Ministry said the government will continue to work with South African authorities to facilitate the evacuation of Ghanaian nationals and ensure their safety.
It also called on the Government of South Africa to provide adequate security for affected groups and enforce law and order in line with Pan-African principles and African integration.
The statement reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to protecting the welfare of its citizens both at home and abroad.
