Ghana celebrates Chinese New Year with Sunon Asogli Festival

Vice President H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang joined the 2026 Sunon Asogli Chinese New Year celebration, marking the Spring Festival and the Year of the Horse.

The event highlighted the enduring friendship and growing cooperation between Ghana and China across education, trade, industry, and technical exchange.

In her remarks, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang underscored the crucial role of the Sunon Asogli Thermal Power Station in supporting Ghana’s energy supply, particularly during periods of power challenges.

She emphasized that sustainable development requires not just infrastructure but also strong partnerships built on clarity, accountability, and alignment with national priorities.

The celebration also served as a reflection on Ghana’s industrial growth, energy security, and economic resilience. Vice President Opoku-Agyemang encouraged transparent and mutually beneficial partnerships as the country navigates the year ahead.
