The University of Mines and Technology has announced the appointment of Bernard Kumi-Boateng as its new Vice Chancellor, effective August 1, 2026.
The appointment follows a selection process conducted by a Search Committee established by the University Council, which carried out a national and international search and evaluated candidates before submitting recommendations.

The University Council approved the appointment, citing Professor Kumi-Boateng’s academic record, leadership experience, and capacity to advance the institution’s strategic vision.
Chairperson of the Council, Goski Alabi, said the Council is confident in his ability to lead the university into its next phase of growth, highlighting his track record in academic leadership, research, and institutional development.
The Council also commended the Search Committee for ensuring a merit-based and transparent selection process.
