World Vision Ghana commissions new office complex for Wa Cluster to strengthen community impact in Upper West Region

World Vision Ghana (WVG) has commissioned a new office complex for its Wa Cluster Area Programme at Wechiau in the Wa West District to enhance operational efficiency and deepen its development impact in the Upper West Region.

The new facility, which replaces the organisation’s former office space at the Wa West District Assembly, will serve as a central hub for implementing WVG’s programmes focused on improving the lives of vulnerable children, families, and communities.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr Joshua Baidoo, Strategy and Integrated Programmes Director (SIPD) at World Vision Ghana, said the facility symbolised the organisation’s commitment to transforming lives and strengthening community resilience.

He noted that the office would improve collaboration with district assemblies and traditional authorities in delivering holistic, sustainable interventions that address critical development challenges.

Mr Baidoo revealed that since the inception of the Wa West Area Programme in 2019, World Vision Ghana had positively impacted the lives of more than 46,000 individuals through various initiatives. “Building on this success, in 2022, we expanded our operations to Wa East, where we currently provide support to over 26,000 vulnerable children and their families through our technical programmes,” he said.

He reaffirmed WVG’s commitment to working with local stakeholders to address key issues such as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), poverty reduction, and social inequalities.

Mr Sergious, Before, Wa Cluster Manager of WVG, expressed appreciation to the Wa West District Assembly for its partnership and continuous support. He outlined several interventions undertaken by WVG to improve child well-being, education, health, and livelihoods in the area.

These include the donation of 5,000 Vitamin A supplements to health facilities, the rehabilitation of 12 malnourished children, and the provision of furniture to Buli and Woloyir Primary Schools. Additionally, more than 3,000 children have benefited from educational materials such as school bags, uniforms, books, sanitary pads, and bicycles to enhance access to education.

On WASH, Mr Before highlighted that WVG had provided two solar-powered mechanised water systems and three boreholes to five communities in the district, improving access to clean and reliable water.

Mr Richard Wulo, Wa West District Chief Executive, commended World Vision Ghana for its long-standing contributions to the district’s development, citing notable interventions such as a mechanised water system and handwashing facility at Kangba Basic School.
