TRAGIC: Eight killed, several injured in Bolgatanga-Walewale highway crash

Bolgatanga-Walewale highway crash

A devastating accident on the Bolgatanga–Walewale highway has claimed the lives of eight people and left several others severely injured. The crash occurred on Friday, February 28, 2025, in the farming community of Karimenga.

The tragedy unfolded when a passenger bus travelling from Kumasi to Bolgatanga crashed into a container truck that had been parked along the roadside. The impact was fatal, killing eight passengers instantly and injuring many others.

Local residents, along with officers from the Ghana National Fire Service, rushed to the scene to assist in rescuing the injured. Five passengers were trapped in the mangled wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency responders. In a grim turn, three severed legs were discovered at the accident site, deepening the community’s grief.

The injured victims were quickly transported to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga for medical treatment.
