Nutrifoods Ghana resumes production of Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix after FDA clearance confirms safety and compliance

Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has officially resumed production and distribution of its popular Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix following a comprehensive review and clearance from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), which reaffirmed the product’s safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.

In August 2025, the company, under the supervision of the FDA, initiated a precautionary recall of select batches of the product that did not fully meet its stringent quality benchmarks. The move, according to Nutrifoods, was a reflection of its unwavering commitment to consumer safety and its readiness to act swiftly when product concerns arise.

“This responsible measure reflected our deep commitment to our consumers and our readiness to act decisively to preserve the safety and quality of our products,” the company stated.

Following the recall, Nutrifoods Ghana collaborated closely with the FDA on a comprehensive operational review, which included an in-depth examination of factory processes and quality systems. As part of the evaluation, the company strengthened its quality assurance protocols, introducing enhanced process controls and extended incubation procedures to ensure sustained product excellence.

“This review reaffirmed that our production systems and products are fully compliant with the highest standards and regulatory requirements,” Nutrifoods said in its statement.

In its letter of clearance, the FDA confirmed that it will continue to monitor Nutrifoods’ production activities under an agreed protocol. This includes a 15 to 21-day incubation period for all product batches and periodic sampling and testing of both raw materials and finished products to maintain ongoing compliance.

Nutrifoods also apologised to consumers for any inconvenience caused during the recall period and expressed appreciation for their continued trust and loyalty.

Nutrifoods Ghana Limited is a joint venture between Olam International and Sanyo Foods, producing some of Ghana’s leading packaged food brands with a strong focus on safety, innovation, and consumer satisfaction.
