Madina MP Francis-Xavier Sosu launches vocational training for 120 youth apprentices

Hon. Francis-Xavier Sosu, NDC Member of Parliament for Madina, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment with the matriculation of 120 young apprentices into the Madina Job Center’s flagship vocational training programme.

The new cohort will be trained in fashion design, hairdressing, make-up and nail artistry, barbering, baking, and shoemaking—skills designed to equip them for self-employment and financial independence.

Established in 2019 by the MP, the Madina Job Center has already supported over 7,000 beneficiaries. The goal is to increase this number to 20,000 by December 2028.

The matriculation ceremony was attended by the CEO of the National Youth Authority, Hon. Osman Abdulai Ayariga, and the Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Joan Selasie Ahiawordor Esq., along with her team—highlighting national support for the initiative.

Hon. Sosu expressed gratitude to former President John Dramani Mahama for the National Vocational Apprenticeship and Edwumawura initiatives, which are partnering with the Madina Job Center to expand its impact.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Centre’s CEO, Priscilla Naa Aklerh Okantey Plange, and other partners and trainers who are advancing the mission of poverty reduction through skills training.

“This is how we fight poverty. This is how we build Madina,” Sosu said.
