Mr Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, has held his third-quarter accountability session at Penyi, where he presented a comprehensive report on his stewardship and shared progress on both government and constituency projects.
The October 19 event formed part of his Quarterly Accountability Series, a governance and transparency initiative outlined in the Ketu North Manifesto. The platform evolved from his earlier monthly “Edem Agbana Speaks” radio programme into a quarterly community engagement series aimed at strengthening transparency, promoting citizen participation, and deepening responsive leadership.

Addressing constituents, Mr Agbana provided national updates under the President’s 24-Hour Economy policy, which he said had introduced round-the-clock operations at the DVLA, Passport Office, and GIPC, alongside the training of 23,000 security officers and incentive packages for night-shift workers.
He cited major education reforms, including the “No Academic Fee” policy for first-year tertiary students—funded with GH¢452.9 million via the GETFund “No Fees Stress” portaland the rollout of Free Tertiary Education for Persons Living with Disability in August. Other national programmes included the Mahama Cares Fund for chronic illness support, the Free Sanitary Pads Programme reaching six million schoolgirls, the Adwumawura and One Million Coders youth employment schemes, and the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank with GH¢51.3 million seed capital.
Touching on environmental protection, Mr Agbana said the government had enforced the ban on illegal mining in forest reserves, restored seven out of nine affected sites, and launched both the Tree for Life and Blue Water initiatives. He added that the Ghana cedi had appreciated from GH¢14.71 to GH¢11.45 per US dollar, the strongest performance since 2007.
Within the constituency, the MP outlined multiple completed and ongoing projects. Through the Edem Agbana Scholarship Scheme, GH¢1.3 million had been disbursed to support over 420 tertiary students, including 22 with disabilities and 25 women in STEM disciplines. He donated laptops and iMac desktop computers to schools and pledged half of his salary to sustain the scheme.
Other educational interventions included the MP’s Special Education Awards, 50 computers to Dzodze Senior High School (DZOSEC), completion of the school infirmary initiated by Dr James Klutse Avedzi, and distribution of 900 desks to basic schools in collaboration with Dr Avedzi. He also spearheaded a Girls in ICT Programme and helped establish an ICT lab and library at Kuli Dzogbefuime Basic School with support from the Adenta Central Rotaract Club.
In health and water development, Mr Agbana announced the revival of the DZOSEC Clinic project, provision of delivery beds and supplies to health centres at Ative and Tadzewu, and free eye screening in 30 communities. He also reported new mechanised boreholes and water tanks across several towns.
Environmental efforts included the establishment of the first-ever District EPA Office in Dzodze, the Green Ketu North Project with 10,000 trees planted, and the dredging of the Weta farm canals. Partnerships with foreign embassies and institutions are underway to enhance farming through technology and irrigation.
On infrastructure, he launched the Light Up Ketu North Project, installing streetlights along major roads, including Dzodze–Penyi–Zukpe and Dzodze–Kave Junction. Road works are ongoing on the Dzodze–Penyi, Ho–Denu, and Kuli–Dzodze roads, while bidding continues for the Akanu Town road network.
The MP also announced the Edempower 500 Programme, targeting 500 youths annually for technical and vocational training. He said his office had facilitated employment opportunities at the DVLA and EPA, and supported overseas training placements in South Africa, China, India, and Russia. Plans are underway for a Ketu North Job Centre, an Agblenyo (Youth in Agriculture) Project, and new facilities for Afife Senior High Technical School, including a dormitory, administration block, library, and modern toilet complex.
Rev. Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), praised the MP for fostering collaboration between the Assembly and Parliament, which he said had accelerated development. He listed projects funded under the District Assembly Common Fund, including new CHPS compounds, school blocks, and market renovations, as well as plans to revive the ECOWAS Market Project at Akanu.
He further commended the NGO Meaningful Life for drilling boreholes in several communities and thanked residents for their support.
Torgbui Dadzi V, Paramount Chief of the Penyi Traditional Area, speaking on behalf of local chiefs, lauded the MP and MCE for their commitment and results-driven leadership. “In just six months, we are truly overwhelmed by the good works the MP has started,” he said, praying for strength and wisdom for Mr Agbana.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session where community members, party officials, and stakeholders engaged the MP on ongoing development efforts across Ketu North.
