Police launch investigation into murder of Tanoso sub-chief in Bono East Region

The Bono East Regional Police Command has begun investigations into the gruesome murder of Nana Owusu Korkor, the Akwamehene (sub-chief) of Tanoso, a farming community near Techiman.

The incident has left residents of Tanoso in deep shock and grief following the discovery of the sub-chief’s lifeless body on Sunday, November 8, 2025.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Appiah Danquah, the Bono East Regional Station Officer, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Techiman on Tuesday. He said some farmers found the body of the late Nana Owusu Korkor lying prostrate with gunshot wounds at his back around 7:30 a.m.

ASP Danquah stated that the body had since been deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

He added that while no arrests had yet been made, the police had launched a full-scale investigation into the matter and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
