Deputy Health Minister visits Centre for Plant Medicine Research

The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has paid a working visit to the Centre for Plant Medicine Research (CPMR) to gain first-hand insight into the Centre’s operations and its contribution to research, innovation and healthcare delivery in Ghana.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister toured key units of the facility, including the Microbiology Laboratory, Haematology and Biochemistry rooms, Drugs Analysis Office, Pharmaceutics and Quality Control Laboratory, and the Production Unit.

At the various units, she was briefed on ongoing research and laboratory activities, including the analysis and testing of plant-based medicines, quality control processes and the production of herbal medicinal products.

Hon. Ayensu-Danquah interacted with researchers and technical staff and commended them for their contribution to advancing research and promoting the development of locally produced, safe and effective plant-based medicines.

She underscored the importance of scientific research, quality assurance and innovation in strengthening Ghana’s health system and called for continued efforts to ensure that plant-based medicines meet the required standards of safety, quality and efficacy.
