Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has ended her two-day official working visit to the Bono Region with a walk-through of the Berekum Holy Family Hospital to assess its operations and maternal health services.
The hospital was established on April 24, 1948, by the Medical Mission Sisters as a small clinic. It has since developed into a secondary municipal hospital and a facility under the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) and the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani.

Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah and her team were received by the Hospital Administrator, Rev. Sister Reena V. John, who took them through various departments of the facility.
During the tour, the Deputy Minister engaged management and staff on the hospital’s operations, service delivery and challenges, with particular attention to issues affecting maternal and newborn healthcare.
The visit formed part of her wider engagement with health facilities and stakeholders across the Bono Region under the Maternal Mortality Action and Response Programme (MMARP).
The programme is aimed at identifying challenges within the health system and strengthening measures to reduce preventable maternal deaths.
