appeals for drainage, sanitation and security support

Dormaa-Ahenkro, Sept. 17 – Mr. Thomas Amstrong Asante, Headmaster of Dormaa Senior High School (DORMASS) in the Bono Region, has appealed for urgent support to improve the school’s drainage and security infrastructure.

He expressed concern that the poor drainage system, particularly around the girls’ dormitory, was worsening sanitation on campus. “Wastewater finds its way back into the girls’ dormitory bathtub, causing an eyesore in the area,” he lamented.

According to him, efforts to address the challenge have been hampered by the rocky nature of the ground, which makes it extremely difficult to dig channels for the free flow of water.

Speaking at the school’s annual Old Students Association congress in Dormaa-Ahenkro, Mr. Asante disclosed that the poor drainage situation had sparked tension with nearby residents. “Recently, an assistant headmaster of the school was nearly attacked by some residents because of the issue,” he revealed.

The headmaster further appealed to old students, traditional authorities, individuals, and corporate bodies to assist in resolving the sanitation problem.

Mr. Asante also called for support to re-fence parts of the school, particularly around the Jorjor residential area, to enhance security. He said the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), chaired by Barimah Kwadwo Damoah Afari, Sanaahene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, had already set up a committee to work on the fence wall project.
