The Community Integrated Anti-Violence Advocacy Network (CIAVAN) has launched its Zongo Chapter with a two-day community clean-up exercise held on September 5 and 6, 2026, as part of efforts to promote community development, responsible citizenship and youth participation.

The launch of the Zongo Chapter marks the beginning of CIAVAN’s planned community-based activities aimed at engaging residents, particularly young people, in addressing issues affecting their communities.
Although sanitation is among the Chapter’s immediate areas of focus, CIAVAN’s community development agenda also includes violence prevention, peacebuilding, public safety awareness, responsible speech, youth engagement, responsible citizenship and community participation.
The Chapter is expected to use community activities such as clean-up exercises as opportunities to engage residents in conversations about broader issues affecting the community.
CIAVAN believes that addressing community challenges requires both practical interventions and sustained education capable of influencing attitudes and behaviour.
The launch also comes as CIAVAN seeks to establish stronger relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders within the Ayawaso North Municipality.
