The British Council has announced the twelfth year of its Study UK Alumni Awards, recognising the outstanding achievements of international UK alumni worldwide.

A statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency said applications for the 2025 edition opened on September 1, 2025, and will close on October 16, 2025. Eligible applicants will be considered for both the national Alumni Awards in participating countries and the global Alumni Awards.

Sharing her experience, Ms Adaku Ufere, National Winner of the Science and Sustainability Award in Ghana 2025 and alumna of the University of Aberdeen, said: “Being recognised as the Science and Sustainability Award winner in Ghana 2025 has been a powerful moment in my journey. The visibility through the British Council’s platforms has been truly invaluable.”

Mr King A. Wellington, National Winner of the Business and Innovation Award in Ghana 2025 and alumnus of the University of Birmingham, said the recognition validated his work and amplified Ghanaian innovation globally.
“Winning the Business and Innovation Award in Ghana 2025 was a defining moment. It validated the work I have been doing and provided a platform to showcase Ghanaian innovation globally. The recognition and media coverage are helping me scale my ideas and inspire others to pursue bold, creative solutions,” he said.

The statement added that the finalists and winners of the global Alumni Awards will be announced in 2026 and celebrated through a digital campaign highlighting their achievements. Global award winners will also be invited to visit the UK, where they will reconnect with their universities, engage with current GREAT scholars, and network with fellow awardees.

The British Council noted that this prestigious visit will enhance winners’ international profiles, advance their careers, and foster meaningful academic and professional connections.

Study UK is the UK’s only national-level campaign promoting the country as a first-choice study destination for international students. The initiative, led by the British Council in partnership with the UK government’s GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland Campaign, highlights the UK’s higher education excellence and the life-changing opportunities it provides.
