President John Dramani Mahama has visited two survivors of Saturday’s terrorist attack in Burkina Faso who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
The survivors were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling on a truck that was ambushed by armed bandits in northern Burkina Faso. The attack claimed the lives of seven other Ghanaian traders, who have since been buried.

President Mahama, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, expressed sympathy to the injured traders and assured them that government will fully cover their medical expenses.
The President had earlier been in Takoradi to open the Minerals Commission‘s Local Content Summit before proceeding directly from the airport to the hospital to check on the victims.
The injured traders were successfully evacuated and transported back to Ghana by the Ghana Armed Forces. Government officials say support will continue to be provided to both the survivors and the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.
