The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on Thursday, December 18, 2025, opened a two-day Regional Crime Officers’ Conference aimed at strengthening the investigative capacity of crime officers across the country.
The conference, which brought together Crime Officers from all twenty-five Police Regions and Directors of selected units at the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters, was officially opened by the IGP with support from members of the Police Management Board.

Addressing participants, Mr. Yohuno highlighted the central role Crime Officers play in modern policing, particularly at a time when criminal activities are becoming more complex and sophisticated.
He noted that the changing nature of crime requires advanced investigative approaches, a high level of professionalism and continuous capacity building to ensure effective law enforcement.
The IGP reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the investigative capabilities of the Ghana Police Service, stressing that improved investigative standards are crucial to staying ahead of crime and restoring public confidence in the Service.
In a welcome address, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Mrs. Lydia Yaako Donkor, urged participants to actively engage in the conference discussions.
She noted that the success of criminal prosecution largely depends on the quality and effectiveness of criminal investigations, underscoring the importance of the gathering.
