FIPAG Relaunches with Bold Plan to Train 1,600 Fire Safety Technicians

The Fire Protection Association of Ghana (FIPAG) has officially relaunched with a renewed mission to address the country’s critical shortage of fire safety professionals.

Speaking at the relaunch, Mr. Ohene Mensah Budu, Board Chairperson of FIPAG, unveiled an ambitious plan to train 1,600 fire estimation technicians — 100 for each of Ghana’s 16 regions. The programme seeks to close the significant gap in regional fire protection expertise and ensure communities are adequately safeguarded.

“By training these professionals, FIPAG intends to ensure that every region has the expertise required to enhance fire safety and protect communities. The technicians will be equipped with the skills necessary to provide hands-on support and certification, building a more resilient Ghana,” Mr. Budu said.

He revealed that FIPAG had made a direct appeal to the National Insurance Commission (NIC) for funding support, stressing that the initiative would not only strengthen public safety but also create jobs and boost Ghana’s economic development.

Backing the initiative, Mr. Henry Boni-Quarshie, President of the Electronic Security Association of Ghana (ESAG), pledged his association’s full support, noting the growing link between fire protection and electronic security. He highlighted the importance of integrated systems, joint training, and policy advocacy to develop a smart and modern safety infrastructure in Ghana.

Both associations signalled their readiness to collaborate on integrated frameworks and regulatory reforms to advance fire safety and electronic security nationwide.
