A 32-year-old vulcanizer, Issiful Bilal, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Adenta Circuit Court for robbing a commercial motorbike rider of his motorbike.

Bilal, who was charged with robbery, pleaded guilty to the offence on September 25, 2025, and was convicted on his own plea. His sentencing, however, was deferred to October 16, 2025.

According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, the complainant, Razal Mukiala, a commercial motorbike rider from Adenta New Site, was operating his Royal Motorbike (registration number M-25-WX1145) around 10:30 p.m. at Ritz Junction, Madina, when the incident occurred.

Chief Inspector Lanyo told the court that Bilal and his accomplice, who is still at large, lured the complainant into taking them to Adenta New Legon. On reaching a section of the road near Pinnacle Estate at Adenta Commandos, Bilal pretended to have dropped his phone and asked the complainant to stop.

Both suspects then pulled out a knife, threatened the rider, and robbed him of his motorbike. They sped off, but the complainant, who had installed a tracking sensor on the motorbike, activated it, causing the bike to stop a few meters away.

The prosecution added that the complainant raised an alarm, attracting nearby residents. In an attempt to escape, Bilal pushed the complainant into a gutter and attempted to smash his head with a stone, but witnesses intervened, leading to his arrest.

Bilal later led the police to Agbogbloshie and Komba in an attempt to locate his accomplice, but he could not be found.
