Two major organisations in Ghana’s fruit and vegetable sector have merged to form a new industry body, Ghana Vegetables, in a move aimed at increasing vegetable exports and strengthening the country’s horticultural industry.
The new association brings together the Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association of Ghana (VEPEAG) and the Ghana Association of Vegetable Exporters (GAVEX), both of which have played key roles in developing the sector over the years.

The merger is expected to enhance collaboration among producers and exporters, improve competitiveness, and position Ghana to expand its presence in international vegetable markets.
According to the association, Ghana Vegetables will focus on increasing the production of high-quality vegetables for both domestic and export markets while promoting greater consumption of vegetables across the country.
The initiative is also expected to support industry growth, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the contribution of the vegetable sector to Ghana’s economy.
