Police investigations revealed that the fake currency, consisting of $100 denominations, had been concealed in a student’s trunk at the suspects’ hideout in Larsi.

According to the police, during the arrest, one of the suspects, Bishop Robert Olertey, allegedly attempted to bribe officers with GHS 20,000. The officers rejected the offer and proceeded with the arrest, transferring the suspects to the Akosombo Divisional Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations.

On March 13, 2026, Ebenezer Narh-Tsu was arraigned before the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court and granted bail of GHS 100,000 with two sureties. He has been ordered to report to the police every Monday for two weeks to assist with ongoing investigations.

The two other suspects have also been granted police enquiry bail as investigations continue.

The Eastern Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious in their financial dealings to avoid falling victim to counterfeit currency, which can lead to significant financial losses.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the operation and any additional individuals connected to the case.
