An intelligence-led operation by the Eastern South Regional Police Command has resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old Nigerian fugitive believed to be responsible for the killing of a woman and her daughter in Nigeria.
The suspect, Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, was picked up at a hideout in Akyem Wenchi, a suburb of Akwatia, after police traced him to the residence of a friend. His arrest follows the circulation of a viral video in which he was accused of abducting and murdering an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to police information, Nigerian authorities had been pursuing Fejemirokum before he fled to Ghana in an attempt to escape arrest.
DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Eastern South Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, confirmed that officers acted promptly upon receiving credible intelligence about the suspect’s location.
“The operation was executed without resistance, and the suspect was taken into custody,” he stated.
He added that arrangements were being finalised to hand Fejemirokum over to Nigerian authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
DSP Fianko-Okyere encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals or activities, emphasising that community cooperation is essential in combating crime.
“We continue to count on the support of the public to ensure that our communities remain safe. Our operations are ongoing, and we are committed to combating criminal activities across the region,” he said.
The arrest is being described as a significant step forward in strengthening cross-border law enforcement collaboration between Ghana and Nigeria.
