His work has been central to the transformation and modernisation of the Authority, particularly in areas such as domestic tax policy, compliance management and revenue mobilisation.

Before his elevation to Acting Commissioner, Dr Yamborigya held several senior management positions within the GRA. These included serving as Audit Team Leader for the Tax Audit Unit, Head of Audit at the Legon Medium Taxpayer Office, Head of Post Clearance Audit at DTRD, and Head of Audit for Special Audits, also known as the Audit Factory. He further served as Acting Assistant Commissioner at the Commissioner DTRD’s Secretariat.

He also occupied the role of Assistant Commissioner and Head of Tax Audit at the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO), where he helped lead reforms aimed at strengthening tax compliance, widening the tax base and modernising domestic tax operations. His leadership, described as visionary and service-driven, has earned him significant respect within the Authority and the broader tax administration community.

According to the GRA, Dr Yamborigya’s appointment is expected to inject renewed momentum into efforts to enhance compliance, apply digital tax solutions and deepen stakeholder collaboration to strengthen Ghana’s domestic revenue mobilisation.

Management and staff of the GRA have extended their congratulations to Dr Yamborigya and wished him a successful tenure as Acting Commissioner of the DTRD.
