The Coordinating Secretary of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA), Andrew Akuffo, has dismissed claims that the National Service Secretariat (NSS) owes service personnel unpaid allowances.
Mr Akuffo described as unfortunate a planned demonstration by a group calling itself “Suffering National Service Personnel” over the alleged non-payment of allowances.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, he said all outstanding allowances had been paid except for those due for May 2022.
According to him, the May allowance was scheduled to be paid by the middle of June, in line with the Secretariat’s usual payment schedule.
Mr Akuffo explained that delays experienced by some personnel were largely due to administrative issues, including failure to submit monthly evaluation forms, identity mismatches and the submission of incorrect Ezwich account details.
He said these verification measures were necessary to prevent fraud and impersonation and ensure payments reached the right beneficiaries.
To resolve outstanding payment concerns, Mr Akuffo said NASPA had introduced a Google form for affected personnel to submit their details through their respective National Service offices for prompt resolution.
He appealed to the group planning the demonstration to remain calm, call off the protest and use the appropriate channels to address their concerns with the National Service Secretariat.
