ADR coordinator urges public to use alternative dispute resolution

The Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Coordinator for the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) System, Paul Frimpong, has urged the public to take advantage of the ADR mechanism to resolve civil disputes quickly and amicably.

He said the ADR system offers a faster and more affordable alternative to the traditional court process, helping parties save both time and money while promoting peaceful settlements.

Mr Frimpong made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during the Bono Regional celebration of the annual ADR Week in Sunyani.

The celebration, held under the theme “Making Our Courts User-Friendly Through the Use of ADR,” aimed to raise public awareness about the benefits of using the ADR mechanism.

He explained that parties involved in disputes have the opportunity to choose their own mediator, making it easier to reach mutually acceptable and lasting solutions.

According to him, ADR proceedings are conducted privately and confidentially, helping to preserve relationships between family members, neighbours and other parties involved in disputes.

Mr Frimpong also appealed to the media to deepen its understanding of the ADR process and support public education efforts to encourage more people to use the mechanism.
