The Hohoe Municipal Hospital also recorded 86 COVID-19 cases among its staff between January and August 2021. Data from the municipality showed that 2,458 samples were tested during the period, with 459 positive cases, 34 active cases, and four deaths recorded.

Hohoe Municipal Disease Control Officer, Philip Nani-Tome, raised concerns over declining adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols in the municipality.

He said many residents had stopped wearing face masks, social distancing measures were no longer being followed, and handwashing facilities were no longer being used effectively.

Mr Nani-Tome appealed for renewed public commitment to COVID-19 preventive measures and urged authorities to strengthen enforcement of safety protocols.

He also called for support to improve contact tracing, provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers, and enhance the municipality’s response to the pandemic.
