Take steps to address $156M USAID funding gap – John Mahama directs Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson

President John Dramani Mahama has directed Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to take immediate steps to address a $156 million funding gap caused by the suspension of the USAID international funding program.

The President expressed particular concern over the $78.2 million shortfall affecting key health initiatives, including malaria prevention, maternal and child health, family planning, reproductive health, nutrition, and HIV/AIDS programs. The disruption threatens the availability of antiretroviral drugs, testing, and prevention services.

President Mahama has instructed that priority be given to these critical health interventions to mitigate the impact of the funding shortfall.

The directive was announced by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President.
