The government has set aside GH¢150 million to support the Black Stars‘ campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Finance Minister Dr Ato Forson announced on Thursday.

Dr Forson made the disclosure while presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament under the theme “Resetting for Growth, Jobs and Economic Transformation.”

The Black Stars, four-time African champions, secured qualification for the tournament by topping Group I in the Africa qualifiers, marking Ghana‘s fifth appearance at the global showpiece, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Preparations for the World Cup are already in progress, with Ghana scheduled to face Japan and South Korea in international friendly matches. The team will learn its group-stage opponents when the official draw takes place on December 5, 2025, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
