KMA announces November 1 city-wide clean-up exercise, suspends trading and vehicular movement in key areas

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a city-wide clean-up exercise scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to improve sanitation and environmental cleanliness in the metropolis.

In a public notice signed by the Assembly’s Public Relations Officer, Ms Henrietta A.K. Aboagye, the exercise is expected to begin at 06:00 hours in line with the Government’s nationwide monthly clean-up initiative aimed at promoting cleaner and healthier communities.

The operation will cover major parts of the Central Business District (CBD) and surrounding areas, including the stretch from Zoo Roundabout through Pampaso to Otumfuo Roundabout, Otumfuo Roundabout through Acheamfour Market, MTN Roundabout to St. Louis College, and Otumfuo Roundabout to Dr Mensah.

Other locations include the Boss FM–Central Market enclave, Asafo Interchange, Asafo Market area, and the Roman Hill Down–Aboabo Station–Alabar corridor.

The KMA has directed that all trading activities and vehicular movements within the operational zones be suspended during the exercise to ensure smooth and effective work.

Residents, traders, and commercial drivers are encouraged to participate actively to help keep Kumasi clean and improve public health outcomes.

According to the KMA, shops and trading activities may resume at 11:00 hours only for those who take part in the exercise, while those who fail to participate will have their businesses remain closed until 14:00 hours.

The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean, organised, and environmentally sustainable Kumasi, urging all stakeholders to support the initiative for “a cleaner, healthier Kumasi.”
