He made this known at a press soiree organised by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) ahead of the 41st National Farmers’ Day Celebration and the Volta Trade and Investment Fair, both scheduled for December 2025 in Ho, the regional capital.

The National Farmers’ Day, slated for Friday, December 5, 2025, will be held under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”
Mr Gunu said hosting the national celebration in the Volta Region was a privilege and recognition of the region’s immense contribution to national food security and agricultural development.
“From our fertile plains and vibrant fisheries to our growing agribusiness sector, the Volta Region continues to play a vital role in feeding Ghana and supporting livelihoods across the agricultural value chain,” he noted.
He outlined several benefits the region would derive from hosting the event, including an economic boost from increased commercial activity, promotion of agribusiness opportunities, and tourism exposure through attractions such as Mount Afadja, Wli Waterfalls, and Volta Lake.
Mr Gunu also announced that the Volta Trade and Investment Fair, a 13-day event featuring round-the-clock exhibitions, would run concurrently to highlight opportunities in agriculture, tourism, and industry.
He called on organisations, farmer groups, and individuals to partner in making the celebration successful, describing it as “a platform to honour our hardworking farmers, fishers, and processors whose resilience and innovation continue to feed the nation.”
Mr Dela Gadzanku, Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) for the Volta, Eastern, and Oti Regions, said the Trade Fair would feature an Investment Summit and the unveiling of major projects by the Regional Minister.
He revealed that the “Made-in-Volta Investment Summit” would bring together investors, policymakers, traditional and religious leaders, and the media to discuss strategies for industrialising the region.
“Our goal is to move from producing raw materials to processing them locally by establishing industries in the region. The Fair, coupled with the National Farmers’ Day, provides the perfect platform for this transformation,” he said.
Mr Gadzanku announced that the Regional Minister would unveil a 24-Hour Industrial Park Project, to be established zonally across the region, and declare Ho as a MICE Centre (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions hub) to attract both national and international events.
He added that the AGI was engaging hotels and businesses to prioritise locally made Volta products, such as rice, coffee, and wine, to strengthen the regional economy.
Mr Mohammed Avona Akape, Chief Director of the VRCC, described the upcoming celebrations as a “moment of pride” for the region, while Dr Harrison Belley, Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), pledged the media’s full support to ensure a successful celebration and fair.
“This kind of engagement should not be limited to occasions; it should be periodic so that we can keep the public informed about ongoing projects and progress in the region,” Dr. Belley stated.
