Felix Kwakye Ofosu optimistic about bipartisan cooperation ahead of Ninth Parliament’s third meeting

Accra, Oct. 22. Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, has expressed optimism about bipartisan cooperation as Parliament reconvenes for the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament.

Speaking to the Parliamentary Press Corps at Parliament House in Accra on Tuesday, ahead of the official opening of the Meeting, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said he was confident that both the Majority and Minority would work together to pass key legislation in the national interest.

He noted that while disagreements were normal in parliamentary deliberations worldwide, he believed this session would be marked by constructive engagement and a business-like approach to advance the government’s legislative agenda.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu-Kwamankese, said he was hopeful that the Minority Caucus would show greater cooperation on national issues, allowing for consensus-building on major policy and governance matters.

The government has outlined several priority bills and actions for consideration during the Meeting. These include the passage of the 2026 Budget Statement, the Property Rights and Spousal Bill 2025, and the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2025. Parliament will also vet Justice Paul Baffoe Bonnie, the nominee for Chief Justice, and deliberate on measures to improve road infrastructure and strengthen the fight against corruption.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining open dialogue with Parliament to ensure that the legislative process delivers tangible benefits to the Ghanaian people.
