Assembly member supports 268 market women with Gh₵268,000 in Amansie South

Mr Dominic Bonsu, Assembly Member for the Takorase Electoral Area in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, has disbursed Gh₵268,000 to support market women in his area.

The financial package, which will benefit 268 women, is a grant aimed at boosting their businesses and improving livelihoods.

Speaking at a presentation ceremony at Takorase, Mr Bonsu said the initiative was part of a campaign promise he made while contesting for the Assembly Member position.

“I promised during my campaign that I would support market women to strengthen their businesses if I was given the mandate. Today, I am fulfilling that promise. This support is free of charge, and I urge the beneficiaries to use the money for its intended purpose so that their businesses can grow,” he stated.

Mr Bonsu further pledged to make the gesture an annual initiative, stressing that empowering women in business was central to his vision for local development. He also encouraged other leaders and philanthropists to invest in community welfare projects that directly touch lives.

Beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude, describing the intervention as timely and life-changing.

“This is the first time we are receiving such direct support from a leader. We are very grateful, and we promise to use the money responsibly to expand our businesses,” one of the market women said.

The event was well attended by community members, opinion leaders, and traders, who commended Mr Bonsu for keeping his word and demonstrating true grassroots leadership.
